Children’s Dance/Tumbling/Recreation Guidelines
STUDIO INFORMATION / POLICIES

Registration (Students who are new to DLS): A onetime $35.00 registration fee is required with your student’s registration form to reserve class space. Registration is not complete & class space is not reserved until this fee is paid.

Monthly Tuition: Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. If not paid by the 10th a $15.00 late fee will be assessed on the 11th. All accounts must have a zero balance at the end of each month, otherwise students will be asked to sit out of class until the account is taken care of. In addition, if the account has a remaining balance on the final day of the month, the account will assess an additional late fee of $15.00. Tuition costs are dependent on student’s class hours per week. Students in the same household will receive a 10% discount on tuition. Class fees are as follows:

Dress Code: Dancers must dress in functional dancewear/active wear to allow them to move freely. Ballet shoes are recommended, but not required. Dancers who do not wear ballet shoes need to dance barefoot. If your dancer wears tights, they must be footless.

Snow/Bad Weather: The studio will not close for snow days. If in doubt, call to find out 801.309.8553.

Attendance: Dance is a year-round sport. The dance year is June 1st through May 31st

Studio Holidays: Monthly tuition will not be prorated for holiday closures. The studio will be closed on the following dates:
Independence Day (July 4)
Pioneer Day (July 24-25)
Labor Day (September 2)
UEA Break (October 17-18)
Halloween (October 31)
Thanksgiving Break (November 25-28)
Christmas Break (December 23 - January 2)

Nutcracker Holiday Production: Children’s Dance/Recreation Classes will participate in the Nutcracker Holiday Production and will have a costume. The $75 Demonstration fees need to be paid no later than September 1st. Part of this fee helps cover expenses associated with the rental of the facilities, the staff required & all admission. All students will be fitted for costumes. Costumes will be available for pick up 1 week prior to the Production. It is studio policy that all accounts must be paid in full, including tuition, before costumes can be picked up. There are no refunds on tuition, costumes or other fees.
Holiday Demonstration Fee (includes costume & family admission)
$75.00, DUE on or before Sept 1
Spring Recital: As a studio, we present a Spring Recital. All DLS dancers and cheerleaders are invited to participate. Performing on stage builds confidence & character. It gives each dancer a sense of accomplishment & is a time to celebrate each dancer’s hard work. Tumblers do not perform in the Review/Recital. Each class will have a costume. All Spring Recital fees need to be paid no later than March 15th. Part of this fee helps cover expenses associated with the rental of the facilities, the staff required to run the stage, sound & lights & all admission. All students will be fitted. Costumes will be available for pick up 1 week prior to Recital. It is studio policy that all accounts must be paid in full, including tuition, before costumes can be picked up. There are no refunds on tuition, costumes or other fees. Regular classes will be held until recital.
Spring Recital Fee (includes costume & family admission)
$100.00 DUE on or before Feb 28

Miscellaneous:
* Tuition remains the same, long or short month, regardless of absences.
* Tuition is due the 1st class of each month & no later than the 10th.
* A $15.00 late fee will be charged to anyone paying after the 10th.
* If account is 30 days over, you will accrue another late fee & dancer will be asked to sit out until paid.
* A $35.00 return check fee will be charged for returned checks.
* Once your check is returned, you must pay with cash, cashier’s check…
* All students need to be dropped off & picked up on time.
* All classes are closed to parents, siblings and friends.
* We are unable to supervise children who are not in class.
* No Food or Drink is allowed in the studio. WATER IS OKAY!
* No gum chewing is allowed in class.
* Account must be paid in full, including tuition, to pick up costumes.
* Holiday Demonstration fees are due on or before October 31st.
* All Spring Recital fees are due on or before March 15th.

CLASS PROGRESSION
Many students take more than one dance/tumble class. Students taking both jazz and tumbling, ballet or hip hop will advance at a much faster rate and become much more versatile.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
CHILDRENS DANCE: (PreK-Kindergarten, 45 MINUTES)
Our Children’s Dance class is a fun introductory class, allowing students to express themselves with fun song & dance routines while learning basic dance moves. It introduces basic coordination exercises, stretching & flexibility training, introductory ballet, memory skills, music appreciation & introductory discipline skills, such as team work & group coordination. Dancers will perform in both the Holiday Demonstration & Spring Recital. Children’s Dance is conducted with a structured class format & is limited to 8 students per class.
MINI RECREATION DANCE: (1-3 grades, 45 MINUTES)
Our Mini Recreation Dance Class is one day a week. This is a fun introductory class, allowing students to express themselves with fun song & dance routines while learning basic dance moves. It introduces the basic coordination exercises, stretching & flexibility training, introductory ballet, memory skills, music appreciation & introductory discipline skills such as team work & group coordination. Dancers will perform in both the Holiday Demonstration & Spring Recital. Mini Recreation Dance is conducted with a structured class format & is limited to 8 students per class.
SMALL RECREATION DANCE: (4-6 grades, 45 MINUTES)
Our Small Recreation Dance Class is one day a week. Students receive proper dance instructions in Ballet, Jazz & Hip-Hop. They learn technique, team work, responsibility & performing skills. Dancers learn basic dance movements, skills & proper dance terminology and perform in both the Holiday Demonstration & Spring Recital. Small Recreation Dance is conducted with a structured class format & is limited to 8 students per class.
TEEN RECREATION DANCE: (7 grade and up, 45 MINUTES)
Our Small Recreation Dance Class is one day a week. Students receive proper dance instructions in Ballet, Jazz & Hip-Hop. They learn technique, team work, responsibility & performing skills. Dancers learn basic dance movements, skills & proper dance terminology and will perform in both the Holiday Demonstration & Spring Recital. Small Recreation Dance is conducted with a structured class format & is limited to 8 students per class.
PRE-POINTE: (10 & up, 45 MINUTES)
This is a class for dancers 10 and up, who have already taken ballet and would like to start Pointe. Dancers are required to wear a black leotard, ballet pink convertible tights, and ballet shoes. Skirts are optional. In this class, your dancer will increase her technique and build the extra muscle needed for Pointe. The Pre-Pointe class will lead into an invitation to advance to Pointe. If your dancer would like to participate in Pointe classes in the future, this class is a prerequisite.
POINTE: (Invitation ONLY, 45 MINUTES)
This class is by invitation only and is for intermediate/advanced dancers. Dances who are invited to participate in Pointe classes will also need to be enrolled in a basic ballet class once a week. This class will focus on both barre and floor technique associated with Pointe. Dancers are required to wear a black leotard, ballet pink convertible tights, and ballet shoes. Skirts are optional.
This PrePointe class will lead into an Invitation, to start Pointe, for those dancer who are strong enough and ready to begin.
If your daughter would like to participate in Pointe in the future this is a required class to start. t
BOYS HIP HOP: (1-6 grades, 45 MINUTES) Our Boys Hip Hop Class is one day a week. Students receive proper dance instructions in Hip Hop. They learn team work, responsibility & performing skills. Poppers learn basic Hip Hop movements & skills while gaining knowledge of Hip Hop terminology and will perform in both the Holiday Demonstration & Spring Recital. Boys Hip Hop may or may not be a performing/competition team. It is conducted with a structured class format & is limited to 8 students per class.
TUMBLING: (3 & up, 45 minutes)
We offer tumbling to both boys & girls. Our Tumble Weeds class introduces basic coordination exercises, stretching & flexibility training, agility, ambidexterity & introductory discipline skills, such as team work & group coordination. Tumblers work to improve strength, balance & coordination. Tumblers will not perform in the Holiday Demonstration or Spring Recital. Tumble Weeds is conducted with a structured class format & is limited to 8 students.

We limit our class sizes to ensure that each student is receiving the full teacher attention they deserve. Recreation classes will participate in studio recitals, holiday demonstrations, community performances, parades & studio parties throughout the year.
